Pinterest Launches Web Analytics Platform for Businesses
Pinterest is getting serious. Everyone knows the Internet's favorite inspiration site grabs
eyeballs, is stickier than most sites and drives a lot of referral traffic. Now they want to make sure you know this as well with the introduction of Pinterest Web Analytics.
This will allow you to view your most popular content, the number of people who have repinned your content, popular content within the site and much more.
To get started, you'll need a Pinterest business account.
1. Make sure you go to your profile drop down menu and select "Switch to the New Look."
2. Your profile also needs to be verified. Simply follow these steps to verify your Pinterest business account.
3. After your site is verified, click on Analytics in the top right drop down menu.
4. Now you can start analyzing your pins and see even more data behind their activity, such as popularity, repins, traffic and repin destination boards. Get all the info about it's capabilities in the Pinterest business acount video tour.
How would I use Pinterest for my dealership?
I would experiment with creating new Pinterest boards based on consumer lifestyle events, rather than simply creating boards about "Fast Rides" filled with cars nobody is ever going to buy from your dealership.
Imagine having boards called "Just Got Married!" -and- "Just had our 1st Baby!" -and- "Best Cars for Teen Drivers! -or even better- "Just got Divorced!" - have some fun with it and create boards that actually connect with the visitor's life experiences and can be helpful as well.
Then, use the new Pinterest Web Analytics to find some patterns and trends to fill up your boards with content that helps you drive traffic and convert leads. And no, it won't happen overnight, put some effort in to it and make it part of your daily routine. (Efficiency tools such as the mobile bookmarklet make it easy to pin content anywhere and anytime!)

Great article Eric! We don't do a ton with Pinterest but we do share vehicles and give the option to share vehicles to our potential customers.
