Anybody using it? How is it working out for you? I have ooked into it, but it seems to require that I will have to get quite a few depts. in the dealership involved to make it work. And with either a 75/25 or 50/50 split on the coupon as the fee structure. It doesn't seem like I will be able to get to a price that service will accept and customers will want. Looking for ideas. Thanks

I think it really depends on your goals. If you are looking for conquest customers and getting exposure for your dealership, then this could be an appropriate strategy. If you are looking to drive bottom line operating income, then this isn't a good short-term strategy.

I agree with Glen. Groupon is great for that quick hit introduction to your business. Much like the introduction of Social Media, you have to be willing to consider the expense of doing it only to introduce your business to the customer and not necessarily driving profits for that first time visit. We looked at Groupon for service last week. We decided to pass for now because of the level of discounting required. I was quite suprised by Groupon asking for 50% and then keeping my money and paying me in 3 installments afterwards. What would make the product interesting is if we could target it for certain days when we are slow, such as Wednesday. If any has used it and has solid metrics on it, please let us know.

Groupon for automotive seems to be a tough fit. Goupn works well for higher margin products- the best I've seen being being online, digital items within an eCommerce setting. Gawker did a story featuring a spa that went under due to the cash crunch created by the volume of coupons purchased. I've checked it out & passed, just couldn't get the numbers to work.
