Toyota - How are you handling leads? " Best Practices "

Good Afternoon, I currently am looking to speak with Toyota dealerships about how they currently handle their internet leads. I know you are graded by Toyota to respond within a hour. Seriously? Who wouldn't do that? It should be within 15 minutes maybe even 5. I just want to know from your experience what is the best practice that you have seen for getting Internet Leads into your dealership. What do you have in place for after hours? For people who answer leads how do your Monday mornings look like? Do leads come at inconvenient times? Do you realize that your internet leads are just as important as someone standing in your showroom? Thanks !

I worked for Toyota Motor Sales in social/digital marketing so I have a little insight into the 1 hour response time. It's a goal for dealerships, not a best practice metric. You wouldn't believe how bad some dealers are at responding to leads. I worked with a whole team of people in the marketing department devoted to pushing leads to dealers. TMS pays a lot of money - you wouldn't believe how much money - building infrastructure, buying leads, reaching out to dealers to shave response time. There is a lot of pressure on the regions to make this happen. It simply doesn't work nearly as well as the mother ship wants it to.
