Do Your Salespeople Text Their Customers?

JD Rucker
We have seen some tremendous success with dealers who are texting their customers in addition to (and in one case, in lieu of) calling them. Is anyone else using texting as a primary method of contact? Are your salespeople texting before calling or calling before texting? Are they using it as a reinforcement of price and availability? To confirm appointments? To follow up? How are you using (or not) texting at your dealership?

JD, We have just recently started using texting as part of dealership communication. We are inserting this contact method anyway we can with the permission of the potential and current clients. At the early stages it has been a very promising way to contact without concerns of interrupting there day. Tim N

I always get permission from the customer.

Great timing @JD, good simple post. Dealers! Not only get permission as @Rick indicated, make sure that you text (via email) if at all possible through your CRM and include an OPT OUT clause so that responses with opt out are logged by the CRM. Make sure, as laws change state to state, that you are in compliance. Eagerness is awesome, but a mistake can be costly. Go sell! Gary May IM@CS
