Price to market...

Jeff White

Just wanting some input as to where everyone's pricing stategy on used cars is compared to market Do you try to keep it at market, a little under market value or do you go for the "Big" hit for s while?

Clint Jones

At the top range of the market for 3-4 weeks, then start lowering it every couple weeks until we are at the bottom of the market.

We don't have vAuto or another software package that automatically does this for us, so we manually update our pricing every 10 days or so.

That is fine, you can navigate around to sites annd see the market data on AT,CDC, CG and many other tier 2 websites the hardest data to come up with is your stores DNA, dealers natural ability, its also good to be able to see transactional sales in your market, what they acually sold the vehicle for front end, F&I and fixed ops. So just because the market is selling at a slow pace on a vehicle doesnt mean your store does the same, and it can work the other way also the market says go buy certain segments and trims and you do and bring it back to your store and the door never cracks.
