Allegation: $206,573 in Unpaid Sales Tax

The owner of multiple dealerships in New York is accused of underpaying state sales taxes by hundreds of thousands of dollars.

According to Syracuse.com, the owner of two used vehicle dealerships is accused of underpaying in state sales tax from those stores by $206,573. Samy S. Guindy, 53, is the owner of Auto Hunter, Inc., and the now-closed Auto Solution, both out of Syracuse, New York.

Guindy has been arraigned on multiple felony charges related the unpaid taxes. The allegation is that Guindy under-reported dealership sales as a way to pay less in sales tax. The time frame for the alleged sales tax evasion for both stores combined is between 2010 and 2017. In total, Guindy is facing at least 61 charges, including third-degree criminal tax fraud and second-degree grand larceny.

Guindy has pleaded not guilty to the charges and has been released on his own recognizance.
