Elon Musk Tweet: ‘Full Self-Driving’

June 12, 2018 0 Comments

For today’s story, as consumers have expressed caution over self-driving cars, one non-traditional automaker appears to be pushing forward.

Elon Musk sent out a tweet, and raised a lot of eyebrows. As Reuters reported, Musk tweeted on June 10th in response to a tweet expressing concerns about Tesla’s autopilot when merging onto the freeway. Musk tweeted, “That issue is better in latest Autopilot software rolling out now & fully fixed in August update as part of our long-awaited Tesla Version 9. To date, Autopilot resources have rightly focused entirely on safety. With V9, we will begin to enable full self-driving features.” It’s unclear which fully self-driving features will be available for Tesla owners after the August update, however this tweet comes at an interesting time.

Back in April, we reported that 46% of consumers are weary of self-driving cars, with that forty-six percent still weary even if the vehicles pass government safety testing.

Time will tell whether it’s Tesla or another major automaker introducing fully self-driving vehicles onto public roads. Before that day arrives how will automakers overcome consumer apprehension about the new technology?
