For today’s story Jaguar has introduced a new concept vehicle, with a surprisingly mobile steering wheel.

As TechCrunch reported, Jaguar has introduced its ‘Future-Type’ concept vehicle. As seen in a company video, the central feature in the Jaguar Future-Type is the steering wheel. The steering wheel is called ‘Sayer’ and responds to voice commands to help the driver multi-task on the go. The Future-Type is seen as a self-driving vehicle with a manual driving option. The steering wheel is removable and acts a multi-faceted digital communications device that just happens to allow the driver to steer the car.

The future type is seen as a potential community ride sharing vehicle, with the removable steering wheel as the personalized and interchangeable part of the transportation equation. As stated in a Jaguar press release,” Imagine a future of autonomous, connected and electric cars where you don’t own a single car, but instead call upon the vehicle of your choice where and when you need it.”

The release date for the futuristic machine is reported by Jaguar as “2040” and beyond. Do you think interchangeable parts such as a do-it-all steering wheel could be part of the future of automotive?
