Today’s story made national headlines. Somehow vehicles showed up at Ford dealerships with something illegal hidden inside.

As WCMH reported, between July 7 and 11th marijuana was found in 15 Ford Fusion vehicles that were shipped to dealerships in Portage, Columbiana and Mahoning county Ohio.

The cars were made at a Ford production facility in Sonora, Mexico.

Somewhere between the facility in Mexico and Ohio, they were stuffed with drugs.

Authorities have speculated that the drugs were supposed to have been picked up along the way and that the drugs may have been added to the vehicles after they left Mexico.

Officials do not believe the dealerships have anything to do with this situation.

The counties where the vehicles were shipped were revealed, however the names of the Ford stores where the hidden drugs showed up has not been released.

In total, some 400 pounds of pot was recovered.

The reported street value of the hidden drugs came in at round $1 million dollars with officials indicating each vehicle had around 30 pounds of marijuana stashed away in and around the vehicle wheel wells .

The drugs were reportedly stuffed into packages meant to look like tires. According to KTLA, a spokesman for Ford spoke about the drug incident on Saturday saying: “We’re aware of the situation and are taking it very seriously. We are working with the FBI and Customs on an extensive investigation. We have confirmed that this is not happening at our plant or at our internal shipping yards.”

The drugs were originally found when one of the Ford Fusion’s was inspected during delivery inspection at a Portage County Ohio dealership.
