Fields’ failed Ford-Google deal left him out in the cold

Back in 2015, former Ford CEO Mark Fields was closing in on an ambitious partnership with Google to develop autonomous vehicles. At the time, no major automakers had “serious plans” for “getting fully self-driving cars” out onto public roads.
