Hey All, I am a graduate of the N.A.D.A and one of the best tips I received was to add the 14.99 oil change. This may sound crazy to some but before you judge pay for a trip through a quicky Lube or Speedy Lube. *I promise you they got it down! Now before you can offer such a low cost to drive traffic your service advisors MUST become sales people. The up-sell is critical. Start by asking all your service advisors to run through a quick lube. Whats how they get a $14.99 bill turn into a $100 R.O

Results

From other dealers that I shared this tip they have consistently increased there service departments capacity by 10%. We actually have our oil changes at $12.95. Yes, it is a loss leader, but the key is the up selling as you pointed out. When you do something like that, you have to make sure that you are able to advertise it effectively to get those customers in the door.

This strategy only works when you have a process behind it, otherwise, it can be a disaster for a dealership.
