You understandably want your auto dealership’s website to be highly visible on the first page of search results. Typically, this has meant being as close to the top of the search results as possible. However, Google has continuously updated its algorithms as well as its features. Snippets have been a common feature on the first page of search results for a while, and this has provided auto dealerships like yours with an opportunity for additional visibility. A Bump to Your Website’s Google Organic Ranking


For optimized, relevant websites, taking take advantage of Google featured snippets and a top search engine ranking was the goal. Recently, the search engine has eliminated this potential for double visibility on the first results page. Now, websites that are featured in snippets cannot rank organically on the first page of search results. The best organic ranking that your website may receive is on the top of the second page of the results. 

Google’s official statement indicates that websites in Google featured snippets will not appear in the top 10 organic search results. The purpose of this is to decrease unnecessary clutter on the first page. This potentially helps users to find the information that they are looking for. 


What This Means for Your Auto Dealership


The URL linked to the featured snippet will not appear on the top list of search results, but this does not necessarily mean that your presence cannot be duplicated on the first page of results. Consider that different URLs managed by you could garner top organic rankings. With this in mind, there is a considerable need to optimize all relevant pages and to create a diversified yet focused presence online.
