We showed you how to set up Google Alerts in a previous post, but this is not the only place to get notifications if you or your brand gets a negative or positive review in the blogosphere.  One of the largest blog aggregation services out there is Technorati.com almost every blog in the universe is spidered by them. Many times their entries will show in the Search Engine Results Pages (SERPS) for keywords that are included in blog posts and blog tags.  And you can get instant notifications via RSS if your keywords appear on technorati.

How to set up Technorati Ego Searches:

  • Visit technorati.com and do a search for terms that you wish to monitor.  If you are monitoring combination keywords such as "John Smith Ford" or "Automotive Website Vendor" you place those terms in "quotes" if you want targeted results.
You will be shown a list of all blog post that meet you search query with an rss feed chicklet.

Subscribe That when clicked will display a RSS feed

  • Take the feed url that will resemble: http://feeds.technorati.com/search/your+keywords?authority=a4&language=en from your browsers address bar.  A simple copy paste will work and place it in a feed reader.
  • One of the easiest feed readers to use is via a Google account which can also push to many cell phones and be accessed by any computer with an internet connection.  Feed readers are also in many email clients such as Thunderbird or Outlook.  Use what you are comfortable with.
Staying on top of what others are saying about YOU is the first step in Search Engine Reputation Management.  Stay up to date with this and other Auto Industry Best Practices right here at Drivingsales.com. P.S. While were are on the subject of RSS feeds add the DrivingSales community blog feed in a reader or you can get updates of new post to Drivingsales.com Blogging Community Feed by Email
