Since when is the cost of your CRM a marketing cost?

Derrick Woolfson

In reviewing some dealers "marketing" budgets I kind of shocked to see the CRM cost (which is a fixed business cost) being counted in the "advertising" portion? This cannot be how other dealers do it? If so, what is the reasoning behind it? Cause, if you were spending 20k+ in *actual* advertising you'd be in great shape!

Payplans, ignorance or both...

That’s odd to add it into that bucket. It’s more operating expense then anything. But the expense should be shared amongst departments for accounting though.

Derrick Woolfson

@Paul, true - it does offer them the ability to pay less to the employee if subtracting that cost from the gross.

Derrick Woolfson

@Chris, agreed - especially given that service also uses the crm amongst other departments including accounting, which is why I have always thought it is a fixed business expense. Just part of doing business.
