Cox Automotive™ - $4 Billion Acquisition of Dealertrack

Shawn Ryder
Does this surprise anybody ? Cox seems to be making some big moves, no question.

Looks like they've gone the whole hog with this addition.

That's a huge move, the auto space for dealers is definitely different now.
Chris K Leslie
This puts them in a position to basically own the entire used car market.

I think this allows Cox to offer a one stop shopping experience for it's dealers and really ads value to their brand. I've worked with several of the companies owned by Cox, both prior to their acquisition and after, and all I can say is the service and quality went up after the acquisition. I have no doubt that will be the case here. I mean fact is, there are alternatives to everything and each person has to do their research before using any product regardless of the parent company, but this is a great move for Cox.

@Chris, I agree that pricing could become an issue when a company owns so many must haves for dealers. Hopefully any price increase is met with an increase in service or performance and not just increased for profit sake. It does allow them to offer options that some may not have been aware they even had to look into, so hopefully, it does trigger new dealers to research products they may not have been aware of and then make an informed decision as well. Good points Chris.
