If you were to give one piece of advice to a new Business Manager, what would that advice be?

My main go to is always...."Do what you expect others to do" You can't expect someone to go do something if you yourself aren't going to do it.

Make sure you have a supervisor/owner/ or GM that is totally committed to the success of your department. Get them on your side early and align your goals. Buy-In is essential.

Use a menu. If you're dealership doesn't have one installed, the ext warranty company provider you use can help. 100% menu on every deal will make you a better business mgr. Get a process and follow it everyday on every deal. PERIOD!

Make sure that you are on the same page as the gm

1. 100% of your products to 100% of your customers 100% of the time. I know that sounds hokey, but it's the only way. 2. Establish and maintain a good working relationship with your credit analysts at the banks. 3. Don't look down on the salespeople or treat them poorly, especially if they don't get paid off the back end.
