WOW some interesting information - turnover for salesperson at a non-luxury store was 74% (42% was national average) https://lnkd.in/e2PyPpe Sales consultant (car), the only key position to exceed the national private sector average, was the highest turnover position at 66 percent annually (non-luxury turnover was 74 percent, luxury turnover was 41 percent). Female sales consultant turnover was 76 percent. Truck sales consultant turnover was 21 percent Women were 18 percent of dealership employees, compared to 47 percent in the total employed U.S. workforce; 7 percent of women were employed in key positions, 93 percent in office and admin support.

This honestly doesn't surprise me. With it mostly being a commission industry (in general), it's hard for green peas to get in the door and get things going if they doing have good training set up. As for the women, I can attest to the fact that I wouldn't be a sales rep unless I know the dealership had good, continuous training, solid monthly sell records, or I wasn't on commission. It's just to much to gamble especially if the woman has children. The hours just aren't typically conducive to families. For instance, my husband works shift work so he has a hectic enough schedule. Throw in a few late customers or deliveries when he is working gets not only me off schedule but the kids too and when they are in school its like pulling teeth the next morning to get everyone up and out the door on time. Turnover is an issue with any business but I'm a firm believer in take care of your employees and they will take care of you. If they don't, then get rid of them and get someone else who will!
