iPhone and Mobile Applications for Dealerships

With the popularity of Smart Phones like the iPhone, Android, and Blackberry, automotive dealerships now have the ability to reach a huge audience in a new and exciting way with Mobile Applications. These applications allow users to view a dealership’s inventory, check out their incentives, contact the dealership at the touch of their finger, and more. And not only do Mobile Applications simplify a user’s experience with a dealership, the Application also allows dealers to obtain valuable information that can be used for targeted behavioral marketing. Most recently, we developed a Mobile Application for one of our clients, Metro Ford. We chose to go Mobile rather than developing an iPhone or model-specific application because the Mobile App. will automatically update itself rather than requiring the user to download a new version each time we tweak our application. Mobile Applications are also compatible with several databases as opposed to an iPhone Application. Metro Ford’s Mobile App. allows Smart Phone users to Search New and Pre Owned Inventory (in real time), click a button to instantly call the dealership, schedule a service appointment from their phone, view videos, locate the dealership by map and GPS, connect to the dealer’s social networks, read model reviews, and more. With Mobile Applications, dealers have the power to target a shopper specifically to their behavior based on which aspects of the Application they use. For example, the Application could be customized to a specific user on the day his new car is delivered so that notifications are pushed through the application to notify him about service specials, service reminders, and parts specials specific to their new vehicle. Therefore, your marketing message is directed specifically to the user, and therefore you’ll see a higher Return on Investment! There are currently thousands of mobile applications ranging from search engines to navigation tools to games and so on. Smart Phone users download these apps to find information at their own convenience. With access to the internet at any given time, mobile applications are available to the user in almost any given location. With more and more people using their phone to surf the internet, research products, read reviews, and so on, the importance of a dealership’s presence on Smart Phones is becoming as essential as their presence on the Web. And the possibilities of customizing these applications for dealerships are endless! Hi Chelsea. Don't forget about all the apps being developed to assist the dealers with online management as well. We just released one ourselves and are quite excited about the possibilities not just for shoppers, but for easing up inventory management, etc, as well. With iPad, this will bring a lot of new interesting tools for the dealers.
