We have an e-commerce store for our commercial trucks - we use Volusions platform. As for advertising spend, it ranges anywhere from $1,500 - $2,750 per month. If we have more specials to run/promote, we increase our spend. The cool part with using Volusions platform, they easily integrate with Google Analytics. So I can quickly see what - if any - impact our campaigns have had. We also spend a portion of that budget on re-targeting, and "abandoned carts." The customer receives an email (much like any other big retailer), and we actually do get a few orders a month from that campaign, which more than makes up for the cost!
@Derrick, what's the ROI on that ad spend?
We give the customer the option to view the parts online but they still have to call or come to the dealership and order through the parts department.
@Bart, it varies to be honest. Most months, we get about a 30% ROI. Total parts sales minus advertising costs, parts costs vs. GP.
