For a 'Mandoatory Turn" Dealership, Who gets the customers info?

General question. It seems when the primary salesman asks for information before the turn, the turn man is going in with his hands tied. It turns into more of a "Goodbye" then actually giving the turn man a legitimate opportunity. What policies are in place for your store? Mandatory turns, or do you give your salesman a lot of rope?

Our guys turn the customer over to one of our desk managers. The desk managers do try to give them plenty of guidance before this

1st guy is "first on" it is his customer 2nd guy is responsible to get customer information and log plus follow up manager turn /desk touch before they leave always -we are a turn store If the 1st guy gets info before the turn you will most likely have an unsuccessful turn as the customer now has an out. (pre test drive) We need to maximize every customer that comes in, sometimes they just don't like the first person they talk to, maybe they are new and don't have the product knowledge to answer every question or maybe they really don't have a 7:30pm dentist appointment they have to go to ;)
