peer interviews

Mark Rask

Have any of you tried peer interviews in your hiring process

Derrick Woolfson

Yes, we call it the cultural interview where the prospective hire gets interviewed by a manager in another department. The purpose of this is to see if there is potential for the prospective employee to be cross-trained, and how they respond to situations that they would otherwise be exposed to in the position. This process has been very helpful. It also creates a culture where employees feel welcomed to openly communicate with the various departments we work with on a daily basis.

Derrick, that's a creative way to do it.  Do you find you have issues getting other departments to take time for an interview?

Mark Rask

I think it will help with the existing team members as well
