^ What he said! Just got my popcorn to wait on these comments. I do have to say that as a whole I think they do good jobs on their commercials. But that doesn't mean they are a good company for the car dealers. Just watching and waiting.

I'm a TrueCar cheer leader - I love them. (Then again, we pay a subscription, not a pay-per-sale). Let's think about this -- 1.) The information comes from a partner - people trust USAA - so Truecar works hard on that transfer of trust. 2.) You get all their contact information & 9 times out of 10 - it's CORRECT contact information. 3.) You set your own prices. If you're not making money using the Truecar pricing, that's not Truecar's fault, that's your own! 4.) Not a lot of dealers (in my area) are Truecar dealers - so I get inquires that no one else in my market does! So YES they are good for dealers!

im curious to see what others have to say about this subject, imo it seems like truecar is working against us rather then beside us

I view TrueCar as a double edged sword. You setup a discounted price through TrueCar to provide a benefit to the customer, and that's supposed to be the end of it. The problem is that the customer doesn't acknowledge this, and they still want to negotiate/haggle beyond the initial discount. Another problem is that we actually have other dealers use our TrueCar pricing against us. For instance, we get a lot of inquiries from areas 1.5-2 hours away and then they take our TrueCar price quote to their local dealer and have them beat it. Occasionally you can explain to someone that you are paying for your partnership with TrueCar to provide them the best deal possible, and they'll acknowledge that. Nine times out of 10, they're still going to buy locally. However, there is the fact that without TrueCar you potentially wouldn't have even received the opportunity to sell that customer in the first place and we do have success selling vehicles through them. So, I can see arguments for both sides.
