What is my trade worth?

Ron Henson
What is your process if a customer walks in the front door and immediately wants to know trade value before they do anything else?

Give it to them
Dennis Downer
I agree with Mark. I encourage my sales staff to give the customer what they want. It creates the same opportunity to have dialogue about what they are looking for, while you are doing your appraisal, that is present in a normal sales interaction but because you are honoring their request, you have a better chance of getting them to follow you through the rest of the process.

Why start off with the customer in a bad way?
Tyler Larson
How I handle vehicle valuations with each customer. I give the customer's their exact values. KBB and NADA Retail, Market Place Retail, Our Price if we are selling it, Their price if they are selling it - > Private Party Sale, KBB and NADA Trade-in, Retail price on Recon and our cost on Recon, Wholesale, and the line... "I want you to get the most for your car. I am recommending you sell it your self." and then I "sell" all the bad around that idea and push for their reasons into their next car.

Thanks for the comment Tyler. Just to clarify, are you saying that you recommend to customers that they sell their car on their own rather than trade it?
