* FAIL * Email Merge Tag Lesson

Chris K Leslie

I just received the spammy email and thought it was a great way to show the importance of making sure your shortcodes/merge tags are working correctly in your email templates. In most cases, I suggest using as little merge tags a possible in your emails.

Wow that makes me cringe lol

@Chris - hate to admit it, but I have made some similar mistakes, lesson learned. After having made that mistake, I now *always* send a test email to ensure the merge codes pull correctly. Another issue we face is for our commercial customers. In that, many do not have first/last names as the CRM only enabled us to put the company in the first/last name field, which always made it hard when sending an email :( - they finally added a "company name" field.

@First Name, thanks for the reminder to check merge codes.  I think most of us have had that happen when we've sent out an email.
