Informal Facebook Poll (3 Quick Q's)

Jason Stum
Hey all, would love to get some feedback from you regarding your dealership's Facebook Page. 1. How long (years/months) has your dealership been active on Facebook? 2. Have you felt any frustrations with Facebook's ever changing algorithm and how it effects your organic reach? 3. In the past year, have you considered quitting Facebook for your dealership and focus your efforts elsewhere? Thanks in advance for your A's to my Q's. If there's anything else FB related you'd like to share, please do!

1. How long (years/months) has your dealership been active on Facebook? - 5+ Years 2. Have you felt any frustrations with Facebook's ever changing algorithm and how it effects your organic reach? - I've never really believed in the organic reach idea. The variables that used to comprise edgerank were very fast and loose in my opinion. Now with the 100k + touch points that make up the newsfeed makes that an elusive idea nobody will ever understand fully. It seemed as they were decreasing their organic side of things they were also building out their business side of things. Since i use business.facebook.com I am able to manage all of our pages and ad accts in one spot. The ads dashboards allow me to reach way more people, more often than any organic efforts ever gave me. At the end of the day all we really used organic insights for was to make better decisions on what content to post. I dont really need all that now since custom audiences and pixels. 3. In the past year, have you considered quitting Facebook for your dealership and focus your efforts elsewhere? - I would drop adwords before I dropped Facebook. Thanks in advance for your A's to my Q's. If there's anything else FB related you'd like to share, please do! - When you use the platform for the things that you want to get out of that platform anything can make sense. To often many folks jump into a platform with no clear idea of what the platform can do. What it can be used for and finally how to use it. Which result in nothing but disappointment most of the time because personal expectations weren't set up front. Any platform can work for you. You just need to know what you want it to do and then tell it to do that.

1. How long (years/months) has your dealership been active on Facebook?\ Well, my group has been active well before I actually started at my automotive group. I'm going to say at least 5-6 years... even before Facebook Pages became the norm, they had a "personal account" with our dealership name. 2. Have you felt any frustrations with Facebook's ever changing algorithm and how it effects your organic reach? It has been all downhill since I started in my position... it was about two years ago when Facebook first started to change the playing field for business pages, and our organic reach plummeted. It was very disappointing at first, but now I am much more selective on the posts that we post, and through trial and error I have found the type of posts that get a lot of action from our audience. We also occasionally throw a few bucks here and there to push some posts that we really want to get out into the world. 3. In the past year, have you considered quitting Facebook for your dealership and focus your efforts elsewhere? Nah! It is still the biggest social media platform for our dealership's target customers, and even if we have to spend a little bit, we still have had customers come in a purchase a car based solely on the fact that they enjoyed our Facebook posts on our page. Pretty cool, eh?

1. How long (years/months) has your dealership been active on Facebook?5 years2. Have you felt any frustrations with Facebook's ever changing algorithm and how it effects your organic reach? Not really. I don't think it's fair for businesses to expect free marketing. 3. In the past year, have you considered quitting Facebook for your dealership and focus your efforts elsewhere? No way. Facebook advertising one of the most cost-efficient ways to reach a targeted audience. Cost per click is extremely low.
