Trickle Down Effect of Googles Renewed Spam Quest

Joey Abna
The blogosphere and Twittersphere has been abuzz with discussion about the effects of Googles renewed quest to weed out spam and low quality content. A lot of the focus has been on the effect of the actions on Demand Media and their IPO. I am more concerned about the effects on me and my stores. I use several sites similar to those in the portfolio of Demand Media for content publishing and link building. Does anyone have any thoughts on how this could trickle down to car dealers that use press release sites, blogs, squidoo, wetpaint, article directories, hub pages, business directories ect. for traffic and links? Some of the content I post is meant for traffic and some of it is for link building. I am concerned that some of the sites that you can post content to for a "do follow" link will be de-indexed or de-valued by Google. I keep reminded myself you can't get too dependent on one method or source but Google is a big one.
