Showroom Design

I'm curious to see how everyone has their showrooms laid out. Does everyone have an office, or just a desk in the open showroom? How much extra seating do you have for customers waiting, decorations, etc.?

The only offices we have are for my F & I managers -- everyone else is right in the showroom - which makes things nice as it's open and it's sooooo much easier to work as a team. If I hear a sales guy getting in over his head with a customer, I can go right over there before things get too out of hand.

See that's what I was thinking, but then we would have 3 offices right in front of the show room just sitting useless. Maybe as some retire we can faze them out into the showroom or just put any new salespeople on the showroom.

We had 2 offices on the side - we moved all of our management team out to the sales floor (we built desks) & knocked down the wall between the 2 offices. They then became our customer service lounge! It's great having the lounge just off the showroom floor. It increases interaction between the Sales Staff & the service customers! We've definitely seen a spike in our equity mining since moving the showroom - without having to implement any additional tools or processes!

Do you have a kid friendly area? Toys or anything for kids? I know that it's not too often around here that we have kids coming in, but it's nice to have them if need be. I keep stuff at my desk for kids, but I'm a mother of two and know that it can go a long way with customers if you can give the kids something to take home with them that will in turn keep them quite while parents and salesman talk out the deal. I am thinking about rearranging our showroom some to make it more inviting since as of right now it's slightly outdated. We have lots of indoor plants, a popcorn machine, and several desks but they aren't really used by the salesmen unless they are using the one with a computer for their training.

Our Honda store (which is bigger) has a separate Kid's play room, complete with a TV & several VHS (yep - VHS) videos for them to watch. At Hyundai, we have toys in our regular waiting area -- The easiest way to find toys is to hit up the yard sales, (at least around here) people are ALWAYS getting rid of all-age friendly kid toys!
