Auto Reconditioning - Best Practices - Used

Tyler DeCarlo

Hello !

I am wondering what the best practices are for auto-reconditioning when it comes to used.

Do you find it better to have things fixed up before the customer sees them?
or to negotiate with the customer on getting things fixed?

How much should we be willing to put into the vehicle for reconditioning ?

thanks for all your help!

Hey Tyler !

My team and I have been focusing on our used vehicle recon over the past couple of months and it is definitely better to have all your vehicles fully serviced and ready for sale.

Now depending on your market and business model, it just makes it a smoother transaction between our salesman and the customer. We know that used cars can be very unpredictable and untimely mechanical problems occur frequently, this is why having a set % on what profit margins your looking for will help with the anxiety and uncertainly when dumping loads of $$$ on your used inventory.

Takeaways:

- Due diligence on the used vehicles being purchased

- Set profit Margin

- Make the sales transaction as smooth as possible
