As an auto dealer, one of the most tedious and frustrating day-to-day tasks is typing in a VIN number.  Sometimes you don't have a barcode to scan and no ability to copy-paste.  Using modern machine learning techniques, there is now a simple solution to the problem: realtime Optical Character Recognition (OCR).

Using OCR, each frame of video seen by the camera of a mobile device is scanned, looking for text that can be read and identified.  Once this process is in place, it becomes a simple process to search this text for valid VIN numbers.

Point a mobile device camera at a print document, computer screen or VIN plate and the OCR feature will identify the VIN and immediately pull up market data for the vehicle.  This removes likelihood of error and speeds up the process dramatically.
