Protect Your Financing With Soft Pulls
I recently received a letter from Capital One telling me I had been Prequalified for a loan with over 12,000 dealers to choose from. Pretty cool to know I already qualify. Not so cool for dealerships that would prefer to control their own financing destiny.
The thing is, dealer's can do exactly the same thing but very few do. Using companies like CreditMiner (my preferred company of course) you have the ability through your marketing to do exactly the same thing. Your message is even more personal as it comes from a local dealership. More and more dealers are making something like this part of their marketing message.
"Here at Luna Motors we care about keeping your personal information secure. That is why you can go to our website and find out what you would prequalify for at our dealership. We will not ask for your Social Security Number or Date of Birth, and your inquiry will not impact your credit score."
This type message has become a standard piece of some dealer's advertising not only with direct mail and email, but even with their TV and Radio ads. The net result has been a tripling of the number of finance leads they receive from their website. What's also interesting is that these leads tend to be higher quality as people with good credit will not give out their SSN over the internet (would you?).
