Google upgrades photos for Business Listings
It’s always frustrating to search for your dealership on Google, only to have old, outdated or even wrong photos show in the knowledge graph portion of the search results. You’ve spent all the time making sure the business listing is correct, only to have no control over what photos represent your dealership.
Google has finally given us a solution to this problem, with their upgrades to My Business photo section. The official announcement:
“ When it comes to attracting new customers, photos can both entice customers to your business when they’re browsing online and give customers confidence that they’ve come to the right place. Starting today, you can tell us which image you’d like to appear when customers search for your business on Google. Just log in to Google My Business on the web, and visit the Photos section. While you’re there, you can also give your business a fresh look online by updating your profile, logo and cover photos.” Source
For a dealership, this is huge! Now you have the power to control what is shown in the search results, customizing your brand and showcasing what makes your dealership unique.
To start using this feature, sign into your Google My Business account and click on the photos.
First, you can now indicate to Google which photo you would like to have shown in the knowledge graph. While not a guarantee, this is the first time you have been able to tell Google what you would like to be shown. This is also where Google is starting to pull photos from for the branded search on mobile. On a bigger scale, this is a chance to show customers everything you want them to know about your dealership. Upload photos of your salesroom, service bays, kids plays areas and more!
The two new additions to the photo section are being able to add team photos and product photos. Now, you can add in team photos, individual employee photos plus highlight the models you carry! As model updates occur, this will be a great place to showcase those updates.
The possibilities are now endless to share what’s going on at your dealership, photo by photo!
