St. Petersburg, Fla. (December 6 2017) --The St. Petersburg-based automotive dealership group partnered with Feeding Children Everywhere to package more than 100,000 meals for Pinellas County children. The volunteer event was held at Crown Acura on Saturday, Dec. 2.
Crown Automotive Group packaged nearly 103,000 meals for underprivileged children in Pinellas County. The St. Petersburg-based automotive dealership teamed up with Feeding Children Everywhere on Saturday, Dec 2, for its annual volunteer event to end hunger in the county.
“Our goal was to package 100,000 meals — and we exceeded that,” said Dan Morris, General Manager of Crown Acura.
The dealership and its volunteers packaged a total of 102,990 meals during the event, which was held at the Crown Acura dealership at 18911 Us Hwy 19 N., in Clearwater. Many of Crown's 650 Pinellas County employees participated.
“We're thankful to have had the opportunity to give back and partner with Feeding Children Everywhere, which is such an incredibly worthy organization that does so much good within our community,” said Jim Myers, President and COO of Crown Automotive Group.
“One in five children in Pinellas County does not have adequate access to food. No child should have to go hungry. Our combined efforts will ensure that fewer children will have to go to bed on an empty stomach this holiday season,” he added.
Following the event, the meals were sent to St. Pete Free Clinic, FEAST Food Pantry, and Florida Dream Center for local distribution.
This was the seventh hunger project event Crown has organized. To date, the dealership group has provided more than 560,000 meals through various volunteer events.
