A Simple Craigslist Solution

As Craigslist continues to make changes to their site dealers and vendors continue to adapt to make the most out of a frustrating situation.  And if you are an avid poster you are far too familiar with this warning while you post:

PLEASE NOTE: Externally-hosted images (IMG tag) will soon be disallowed in for-sale ads.  Please use CL image upload.

So, what will you do?  Or what are you doing to get around this?  Your images used to house all of your dealership information and now if you move to text only ads your info will easily be spotted by flaggers and targeted by competitors. Here are two easy ways to get your contact information back on your ads using the CL image upload and not text.

  1. Take a picture of your sign.  Most dealership signs have the business name, website, and even phone number.  This will also provide your ads with a little brand recognition, especially when shoppers are using the Pic View or Grid View to search.  If it's not too much trouble you may want to take your first vehicle picture under your dealership sign.
  2. Take a picture of your business card.  Want the leads coming directly to YOU?  Take a picture of your business card.  Now when you post an ad select that picture every time as one of your 8 pictures.  BONUS:  Have someone take a picture of YOU holding your contact info!  Stand out in the crowd amongst all the other ads out there.

These tips seem too simple to even talk about right?  I thought so but then I searched craigslist and didn't see either one being used (yet).  "The greatest ideas are the simplest" ~ William Golding.
