3 Q&A Sites To Help Your Dealership Become an Industry Expert

Q&A websites like Quora, Aardvark and LinkedIn Answers are gaining popularity in the social media spear, and people are looking for answers. Answers about cars, about servicing cars, about car parts and about where to buy cars. So the question is- as an auto dealership- are you an expert in the car industry?

People buy from people. Q&A sites can enhance your dealership’s reputation by establishing your credibility on automotive topics. By  contributing to these sites you can demonstrate your expertise in the automotive industry, and keep your dealership  top of mind when a potential customer needs a new vehicle, requires service, or needs to buy a part for their car. These sites go beyond the marketing pitch and not only highlight you as an expert but also give people a reason to buy from you instead of XYZ Auto down the street.

From an automotive advertising standpoint, Q&A sites like Quora, Aardvark and LinkedIn can help brand your dealership on the internet and drive traffic to your site, ultimately increasing car shopper leads . Q&A pages rank well in organic search results since they contain frequently updated content and are engaged often by users commenting, scoring and voting on these pages.

I was in a 20 group recently explaining the use of Q&A sites to the group and one dealer said he had a master technician that frequented a popular forum about their brand that had significant local traction. This past year they introduced a hot new sports car and this tech was able to provide all the exact answers people were looking for along with factory specs and details on the car. His influence on the community brought the dealership multiple car deals and measurable service revenue just by participating in the forum. They figured it out and made it work for them. Q&A communities are a great resource.

The first thing I thought of was forums as well. The dealership expertise (as long as its not overly promotional) is welcomed in most forums, and chances are there is a robust forum for a model you sell.

The important thing to remember is that in branding yourself as an expert, you need to avoid promotional rhetoric ie."we've got em, c'mon down". If you are seen as someone who provides info for the community betterment, you will become the go to location for not only advise but sales and service.

I've been a fan of Quora for a while - very interesting community dynamic. Aside from the authority & brand building potential, it's also a great place find & interact with some very smart minds across so many different segments. If you're not on Quora, check it out & connect with me there as well: http://www.quora.com/Eric-Miltsch
