Using Videos in Email Marketing: Good? Great? Meh?

Email MarketingThose who have been on the internet side of the business for a while might remember some email marketing fads that came and went. They were sleak, sexy, interactive, and got blocked by 90% of the spam filters by 2008. Alas, the days of "fun emails" were behind us.

Or were they? Video emails are making a comeback and frankly, I'm not sure what to think about it. There are several products out there in the market today that allow dealers to make quick videos of them talking directly to customers, doing short video walkarounds, or simply giving the personal attention that customers want to receive. I'm interested in hearing from the Driving Sales about the effectiveness of these.

Call it a personal research project. It's not something that KPA/TK Carsites offers, but if it's effective I'd love to look into it. What are your thoughts? What's your experience?

This question was sparked by one of the infographics that we promote through Hasai that hit my desk and made me start wondering how it translates in the automotive industry.

Video Email Marketing

We include a video on all of our First Response emals such as Quotes, Trade-in requests and Credit Applications submission. We embedde a large photo of of the video. When someone clicks the photo, it opens a new window with the video. Below are some videos we use...(we have been doing this less than a month, but I still think the view count is lower than I hoped). I love it! They have the right attributes - short, to the point, offering an incentive to set an appointment. I would definitely love to see how effective they are.

We use video to send out quotes on lead specific cars and we utilize a software that puts the video into a website like template. Great and easy to use software. Only $50 bucks a month and you emails look like you spent thousands building them. I can't see why dealers still send out text emails and continue to spam the customer for the next 2 years. It's NOT what an online shopper wants!!! If you would like more or want to see how our autoresponder looks, I would be more than happy to shoot it to you in a email.
