GMB recently announced a name change for its Google My Business (GMB) program. The program will now be called Google Business Profile. Before Google My Business (GMB), local businesses had a profile on Google Business Profile, but it was not the same as the new program. In the old version of Google Business Profile, anyone could submit information about your business. Google would gather information from across the web to populate your profile.
The program also used to be Google Places and Google+ Local.
What Google My Business Does GMB was an improvement over the old way to manage Google my profile accounts. GMB allowed any business who wanted to use Google my profile services to manage their account. They could create a branded listing and make posts to highlight their business. Usually, when Google makes major updates to a piece of its software, it will change the name and rebrand the product. If you already have a GMB account, you do not have to do anything. Your account will eventually transition to the new platform.
