Pros:
Cons: They aren't super swell. We get less leads coming through than any other lead gen we use.
Pros: Although pricey, dealerships that sign up with CarFax get access to vehicle history report (which you can get at a much lower cost woth AutoCheck), and you get some advertising.
Cons: While using CarFax and Cargurus at the same time, I decided to drop CarFax because CarGurus gave my dealer better results. I was in a month to month contract with CarFax so I called customer service and although I received a lot of attitude on the other side of the phone, I was told my account was successfully closed. A few months later, I received a $7,000 bill from CarFax. When I called to verify, I was told that even though my advertising successfully stopped when I called in to cancel, my charges continued because I did not cancel in writing. After trying to dispute this with CarFax, they hired an attorney and have served me to go to court to pay them $10,000. So pretty much, in the midst of this COVID19 pandemic, this multimillion-dollar company is attempting to destroy my small, independent, family operated business all because of a misunderstanding.
Pros: No complaints, CaFax has always been good to us.
Cons:
