Mobile Application targeting now available in Adwords

Yesterday Google announced the integration of its mobile ad network AdMob, acquired by Google in the summer for 2010, with its easily accessible Adwords platform. AdMob is extremely specialized in mobile devices targeting; it allows you to target groups of mobile applications such as games, weather, travel, and shopping apps. You can also target a specific application if you have one in mind, or if you see your advertisements performing well when targeted at a specific application.

Prior to this, you needed to create a completely separate account for billing, management and reporting in the AdMob interface to have access to the 300,000 mobile applications and 350 million mobile devices. Now you can seamlessly create a separate Adwords campaign for your mobile display campaign and include its performance metrics in the same management interface.

The AdMob network is largely sold as a network to promote downloads of other applications, but it is a great channel to reach your customers on the mobile channel, where, according to eMarketer, over an hour of time is spent per day. A full force mobile campaign should also include a mobile paid search strategy and a mobile website.
