Digital License Plates Fully Authorized in Michigan

New Michigan law allows for digital license plates; new technology has potential to generate efficiencies and benefits for consumers, businesses and the state - from Smart City synergies to expedited vehicle registration; Reviver Auto working with Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson to bring Rplates to Michigan market

Detroit, MI - January 17, 2019 – The Michigan legislature has passed a bill (Public Act 656 of 2018) enabling digital license plate technology in the state of Michigan.  This new technology, which has the potential to generate efficiencies and benefits for consumers, businesses, and the state, offers a digital alternative to today’s 125-year-old stamped metal license.  Reviver Auto, the creator of the Rplate, the world’s first and only digital license plate, will work in conjunction with newly-elected Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson, to roll the plates out to interested users in the state of Michigan.

“We are proud to have worked closely with the department of state and Secretary Benson, as well as the Michigan legislature and other public officials, to pass this pioneering bill in the state that invented the automotive industry,” said Reviver Auto Co-founder and CEO Neville Boston.   “We look forward to continuing our great working relationship with the state of Michigan, to not only contribute to a more connected community and bring significant benefits to its citizens and businesses, but to also help fuel the innovation fire right here in the core of the global automotive industry.”

The Rplate, which launched on the roads in California in June 2018, transforms today’s stamped metal license plate into a sleek, digital, high-definition display and offers a platform to simplify daily life with vast potential for future innovation.  The Rplate’s connected car platform can automate vehicle renewals, replacing legacy stickers with digital decals, and add new levels of personalization to the license plate, including promoting charitable causes, passion for a sports team, or even a child’s academic/athletic achievements. The Rplate also enables stolen vehicle and plate detached information, as well as geo-fencing capabilities for business and/or governmental entities.  Future features include Amber and weather alerts, automated parking, trips taken, vehicle miles traveled, marketing capabilities and much more.

Michigan, the home of the automotive industry and the heart of its technology innovations, is the first state in the nation to enact a law to allow implementation of digital license plates, helping to open up a digital gateway to a world of innovation opportunities – from Smart Cities initiatives to autonomous vehicle technology – while also offering new efficiencies for consumers such as simplifying and expediting the process for renewing automobile registration.

The legislation coincides with the upgrading of internal systems at Michigan’s Department of State which will provide effortless integration with the Rplate technology. Reviver Auto and the Secretary of State’s office are eager to partner with Michigan companies and organizations to bring the digital license plates to all interested individuals.

Reviver Auto is also partnering with Michigan-based The Pink Fund to create a Pink Fund-branded digital license plate, as well as digital Pink Fund logos for the Rplate, all of which will help raise funds to support the organization’s mission of providing financial support to help meet basic needs, decrease stress levels and allow breast cancer patients in active treatment to focus on healing while improving survivorship outcomes.

In addition to Michigan, the Rplate, which is currently on the road in California, is anticipated to expand into new states in 2019: the use of digital license plates is fully authorized for Arizona; legislation has been passed in Texas and Florida, and Washington State will conduct a digital license plate study.   In addition, Reviver Auto has begun its international growth with an initial program in Dubai, UAE for a proof of concept in partnership with the Dubai Roads and Transport Authority. The Rplate is available in California through participating auto dealerships, proshops such as Al & Ed’s Autosound, and for preorder at the Reviver Auto website www.reviverauto.com.

The Rplate is being demonstrated at Booth CC05 at the Automobil-D event (which precedes the Detroit Auto Show) January 14-17.

Susan G. Komen of Los Angeles is the first charity to create a custom cause digital license plate with the Rplate, the world’s first digital license plate; custom digital license plates designed to raise funds to increase access to breast health services and support research

Las Vegas, Nevada –January 7, 2019 – Reviver Auto, creator of the Rplate, the world’s first digital license plate, and Susan G. Komen of Los Angeles County, today announced at the 2019 Consumer Electronics Show that they have partnered to create a Susan G. Komen-branded digital license plate that will help raise funds to support the organization’s mission of saving lives and ending breast cancer forever.

Susan G. Komen of Los Angeles County is the nation’s largest Susan G. Komen chapter and the only organization in LA dedicated to combating breast cancer on every front.  The partnership will also enable the activation of digital Susan G. Komen logos for interested Rplate consumers who wish to contribute to, and display their support for, the organization.

“We are so proud that such a great organization, Susan G. Komen of Los Angeles County, is our very first official cause plate partner,” said Reviver Auto Co-founder and CEO Neville Boston.  “One of the key features of the Rplate is its ability to generate DMV-approved digital cause plates individually by consumers.  Because it is digital, the Rplate is able to simplify the cause plate process for charitable organizations and the DMV alike - all while empowering consumers to more easily support their favorite organization.”

“Contributing to a connected community is a core part of Reviver Auto’s mission and we are very grateful to be able to help Susan G. Komen of LA County raise funds and awareness for breast health services and research.”

The Rplate transforms the 125-year old stamped metal license plate into a sleek, digital, high definition display that offers new efficiencies and benefits. The Rplate’s connected car platform will soon automate DMV renewals, replacing legacy stickers with digital decals, and add new levels of personalization to the license plate, including promoting charitable causes such as Susan G. Komen of Los Angeles County, passion for a sports team, or even a child’s academic/athletic achievements via DMV-approved personalized messages (such as “Support Our Troops”, “God Bless America”, “I’d Rather Be Running”).

As part of the partnership with Susan G. Komen of Los Angeles County, specific Rplates will be sold in California with Susan G. Komen of Los Angeles branding and messaging.  A portion of each sale will be donated to Susan G. Komen Los Angeles County.  Reviver Auto will participate in events with Susan G. Komen to raise awareness about the organization, while Rplate users can proudly support the cause on their plate.

“At Susan G. Komen we are always looking for ways to expand awareness and increase our opportunities to further our communities’ access to healthcare. Funds raised through the Rplate will help us do that,” said Mark K. Pilon, Executive Director of Susan G. Komen, Los Angeles County.   “Being on the cutting-edge of the digital revolution is an important way for us to reach our community, and working with Reviver Auto enables us to not only raise funds with a much more efficiently implemented cause plate, but also to make our message more digitally mobile.”

Susan G. Komen Los Angeles County is a primary local resource for people who need breast cancer screening, diagnostic and support services. Through annual events including the MORE THAN PINK Walk™, and individual contributions from donors Komen Los Angeles County raises funds that enable women in our local communities to access crucial breast health services.  Seventy-five percent of all monies raised by the Affiliate stay in Los Angeles County to fund breast health services for people who would not otherwise have access. Twenty-five percent of funds raised supports the Susan G. Komen® Global Research Program.

The Rplate launched onto California roads in mid-2018 under pilot and anticipates expansion into new states in 2019. The use of digital license plates is fully authorized for Arizona; legislation has been passed in Texas and Florida, with Washington State passing legislation to conduct a digital license plate study.

The Rplate is available in California through participating auto dealerships, proshops such as Al & Ed’s Autosound, and for preorder at the Reviver Auto website www.reviverauto.com.  Consumers who are interested in a Susan G. Rplate Pro™, the World’s First Digital License Plate, Named 2019 Global Media Award Winner at SEMA

Reviver Auto’s Rplate Pro Emerged Among Thousands as Voted on by Panel of International Judges

Las Vegas, NV– November 1, 2018–Reviver Auto was recognized with a 2019 Global Media Award this week at the SEMA Show in Las Vegas for the Rplate Pro, the world’s first digital license plate. The Rplate Pro is currently on display at SEMA 2018 in distribution partner Al & Ed’s Autosound Booth 12039 in Las Vegas through November 3rd.

“This is the Rplate Pro’s debut at SEMA, and we could not be prouder that it has been recognized by this distinguished panel of international judges as one of the products most likely to succeed in their home countries,” said Neville Boston, CEO of Reviver Auto. “The Rplate Pro brings unique customization and connectivity opportunities, as well as transformative efficiencies, to consumers and businesses -- and to the future of the automobile.  This global recognition helps validate our mission of an Rplate on every vehicle, and we are very grateful to the SEMA Global Media Awards Program for this honor.”

The SEMA Global Media Awards Program recognizes those companies that manufacture specialty equipment products and accessories that would have mass appeal to consumers in countries outside the United States. The products are voted on by a prestigious group of international journalists who serve as judges.

Launched onto the road in California this summer, the Rplate Pro transforms the standard 125-year-old license plate into a sophisticated, sleek, digital, high definition display that allows consumers to view their vehicle’s telematics and customize the look of their plate by changing the background (black to white / white to black) and adding DMV-approved cause or personal messaging, such as ‘Support Our Troops,’ ‘God Bless America,’ or ‘I’d Rather Be Running.’  As a truly cutting-edge and unique aftermarket product, the Rplate integrates with today’s vehicle styles, offering new efficiencies and benefits to consumers, and its connected car platform automatically reflects registration renewals by replacing legacy stickers with digital decals, and adds new levels of personalization to the license plate.

“The idea of customization and personalization has been growing throughout world,” said Linda Spencer, SEMA director of international and government relations.  "Our goal is to have media experts from around the world determine which new products are likely to succeed in their home markets. The automotive specialty-equipment market is made up of enthusiasts who are passionate about the hobby, and so it’s exciting to see how their love for cars, trucks and SUVs is impacting those throughout the world.”

This year’s program included about 30 judges from 19 countries. Each judge carefully reviewed and evaluated nearly 3,000 product entries at the SEMA Show before selecting the products that they felt would resonate and appeal most to consumers in their home countries.

Foster City, CA –October 10, 2018Reviver Auto, creator of the Rplate Pro, the world’s first digital license plate, today announced it has partnered with the California New Car Dealers Association (CNCDA) to make the Rplate Pro more easily accessible to the customers of CNCDA’s over 1,200 franchised new car dealers.

California is the first state to fully adopt the Rplate Pro, which is also DMV and CHP approved. The Rplate Pro transforms the 125-year old stamped metal license plate into a sleek, digital, high definition display that offers new efficiencies and benefits. The Rplate’s connected car platform will soon automate DMV renewals, replacing legacy stickers with digital decals, and add new levels of personalization to the license plate. In addition to offering a unique opportunity to reach the millions of new vehicle purchasers with the Rplate, the California New Car Dealers Association will work with Reviver Auto to educate its members on how the Rplate technology works and about the value it can bring to their dealership customers.

“California’s auto dealers, who serve the US’ largest car market, have always been ahead of the auto technology curve and eager to offer their customers the latest and best innovations for their vehicles,” said Neville Boston, CEO of Reviver Auto. “We are thrilled to work in partnership with CNCDA to enable their members to meet the growing consumer demand for the Rplate Pro, which offers a unique value proposition to both consumers and dealerships.”

In addition to enabling users to automatically renew DMV registration, the Rplate allows consumers to view their vehicle’s telematics and customize the look of their plate by changing the background (black to white / white to black) and adding DMV-approved cause or personal messaging, such as ‘Support Our Troops,’ ‘God Bless America,’ ‘I’d Rather Be Running.’ As a truly cutting-edge and unique aftermarket product, the Rplate, which beautifully integrates with today’s vehicle styles, offers dealers an additional way to differentiate their dealerships and add value for their customers.

“CNCDA is excited to announce our new partnership with Reviver Auto. We are eager to assist in facilitating our members’ ability to bring this unique and potentially game-changing technology to their customers statewide,” said Brian Maas, President of CNCDA.

Connected Cars, Automation and Mobility Make a Splash in Detroit

Attending the North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) for the second year a row, I was struck by just how seriously Motor City is taking the influx of opportunities offered by tech companies – start ups and established players – who are coming to the market with connected car solutions, automation technology and other mobility services. The conversation at last month’s show seemed to be dominated by the innovation in the sector – whether it’s new, targeted ride sharing apps, solutions for the next iteration of self-driving vehicles, hardware/software that delivers unprecedented connectivity, or even the URB-E, a fold-up electric bike that weighs just 30lbs and may just replace a city dweller’s car.

While the OEMs were upstairs launching their latest models – and there were plenty of great ones to talk about! – Automobili-D, the showcase taking place in the depths of the basement, had its own buzz brewing, it felt more CES than Auto Show. Rick Snyder, Michigan’s governor, hosted an award ceremony to recognize the premier mobility technology companies in the world, saying, “This year’s inaugural PlanetM Awards represents Michigan’s evolution from motor to mobility epicenter.”

Reviver Auto was just one of the 160 exhibitors – a number that had doubled from last year. Companies hailed from over a dozen countries, focusing on everything from electrification and personal mobility to on-demand/ride sharing and smart city infrastructures to fleet management and logistics.

We weren’t the only company hailing from California – there was start-up Populus.ai, a data and analytics platform founded by MIT PhDs to help cities create safer, more efficient streets, and Mystro, an app to help on-demand drivers safely switch between multiple ride-sharing platforms (like Lyft or Uber) by automating the evaluation and accepting of trips.

During the Detroit Auto Show, we had the pleasure of announcing the RPlate Pro, the first-ever digital license plate, to the world. The idea of turning the old stamped metal license plate into a connected car platform really resonated with attendees – 82% said they’d buy one once the digital plate became available in their state. It could also be because they look great and modern on the back of any vehicle – especially some of the sleek, new models introduced during the show.

Currently, the RPlate is being sold through dealerships in California – but you can expect to see them in Arizona, Texas and Florida soon.

LA-area Galpin Motors is the first announced dealer partner to sell the RPlate, and prides itself on giving consumers cutting-edge product, technology, and service. Beau Boeckmann, Galpin's President and COO, told the media, "When I saw the digital license plate, I thought it was absolutely awesome! We have a long history of industry firsts and innovation, so the digital license plate is a natural for us -- I can't wait to offer it to our customers."

Similar to a smart home device, the RPlate is a “connected smart car” device that you control via a cloud-based app, ultimately transforming a stamped metal license plate into a thin, integrated, digital display that functions as a legal license plate – except it does much more! Including automating DMV registration renewals (legacy stickers are replaced with digital decals) and, specifically of interest to auto dealers, the plates can also display a customized marketing message when a vehicle is parked.  Think of extending your marketing capability to the back of every loaner or showroom vehicle on your lot!

It’s an exciting time to be a part of today’s changing automotive industry landscape and to work closely with forward-thinking dealerships as they deliver the next evolution in connected car technology to what is clearly an extremely receptive audience!

100,000 Digital License Plates from Reviver Auto to Hit Roads in 2018

Galpin Ford first to sell RPlate in California; RConnect cloud platform launches, makes registration renewals and personalization easy to implement

Detroit, MI – January 16, 2018Reviver Auto, creator of the world’s first digital license plate, today announced that 100,000 RPlate Pros will hit roads in 2018 and Galpin Ford, the number one Ford dealer in the world, is among the first to sell the RPlate to consumers in California.

The RPlate Pro, the latest iteration of the company’s digital license plate, was unveiled today at the North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) (Reviver Auto’s press conference will be held on Tuesday, January 16th from 3:05pm - 3:25pm ET at the Atrium Stage. Click here to view the livestream or an archive of the press conference).  Featuring a sleek display that integrates beautifully with today’s – and tomorrow’s – vehicle styles, the RPlate Pro creates new functionalities and efficiencies for consumers and businesses alike. The digital plate is in use in California and in pilot in Arizona. Legislation is approved for pilots in Texas and Florida – with more states to be announced this year.

“The license plate has not changed since Henry Ford debuted the Model T in 1908.  Today, 110 years later, change finally hits the road as the RPlate Pro launches into one of the largest vehicle markets, and most technologically progressive landscapes, in the world, with more to follow,” said Neville Boston, CEO of Reviver Auto. “We are proud that the incredibly innovative Galpin Motors is the very first of what will be many customers across the US who will help us bring our mission of greater connectivity and efficiencies to tens of thousands of vehicle owners and businesses.”

“When I saw the digital license plate from Reviver Auto, I thought it was absolutely awesome!” said Beau Boeckmann, President and COO of Galpin Motors of North Hills, CA. “Galpin has a long history of industry firsts and innovation, all revolving around better serving our customers. So, when we saw this digital license plate, it was natural for us to jump in! We are looking forward to providing Galpin customers another industry first.”

The RPlate Pro transforms the stamped metal license plate into an integrated, elegant digital display that functions as a legal license plate, while adding new digital communications facilitated through RConnect, a browser-based management system that was also unveiled today at NAIAS.

Among the functionalities RConnect makes possible for consumers are automated DMV renewals - replacing legacy stickers and onerous paperwork with digital decals; implementation of charity plates in support of a favorite cause[1] and the display of DMV-approved personal messages like “Don’t Drink and Drive” or “My Child is an Honor Student.” Cost-cutting benefits for businesses include streamlined vehicle registration renewals and easily tracked registration compliance across vehicle fleets, as well as the ability to create customized marketing messages that appear on the plate when parked.

Reviver Auto’s RPlate Pro can be seen in booth #MS06 at The Detroit Auto Show’s Automobili-D showcase. A video of the press conference can be viewed here: livestream.com/accounts/5716313/NAIAS2018?customizeShare=true.
